About
Soma Consulting Group was founded in 2022 by Mowlid Ali to give organisations working in Somalia and the wider Horn of Africa a practical way to monitor, verify and run programmes and commercial operations in places their own teams cannot reach easily.
Our mission
Our mission is to close the distance between decisions taken in head offices and what actually happens in the field — through independent monitoring and verification, practical digital systems, dependable supply-chain coordination and grounded market-entry support.
Programmes and businesses operating in Somalia are frequently managed remotely. Reporting arrives second-hand, activity cannot be confirmed independently, and access changes week to week. Soma Consulting Group was set up to provide the missing layer: structured, independently collected field evidence and the operational systems needed to act on it.
Every assignment begins with a written methodology — what is being verified, how it will be sampled, what evidence is required and how findings are quality assured. We report what was observed, what could not be verified, and the limits of the exercise. We do not present estimates as facts.
We operate as a coordinated platform rather than a single adviser. Field teams, enumerators, data and systems specialists and sector advisers are brought together for each assignment, and specialist expertise — including monitoring and evaluation, or deep technical implementation — is integrated through partners where a mandate requires it.
Somalia is our primary operating environment, including Somaliland and Puntland, with secondary coverage in Kenya, Ethiopia and Djibouti. We do not claim continent-wide coverage.
