Access Monitoring Standard Operating Procedure

A short SOP for routine route, checkpoint and site-accessibility reporting that stays within humanitarian access reporting.

Scope

  • Covers route accessibility, road conditions, access constraints and programme-site reachability.
  • Does not cover armed-security recommendations, tactical advice or threat assessment.

Routine cycle

  • Daily: route logs and team check-ins.
  • Weekly: programme access status per district.
  • Monthly: consolidated access constraint review with programme managers.

Recording standards

  • Every entry carries location, date, source and confidence.
  • Direct observation is labelled separately from reported information.
  • Unknown is a valid and preferred status where evidence is absent.

Use of the information

  • Informs programme planning, sequencing and logistics.
  • Security decisions are referred to your security provider or focal point.

Free template. Adapt to your organisational policy, donor requirements and professional security advice before use.
